INJUSTICE 2 SA CUP | HEAT 3 WRAP UP

The third heat for the Injustice 2 South African Cup came to an end last night as some of the top fighters from around South Africa went head to head to fight for their share of XP in order to place in the Top 16 of the Injustice 2 South African Cup leaderboard.

The third heat kicked off in a similar fashion to those that preceded it, with an aggressive start from the forerunners of the competition powering their way through the winner’s bracket. One of the surprises was when PARASURAMA (10th seed) managed to knock ZeeTheJanitor (2nd seed) into the losers bracket by beating him 2-0.

We, once again, had a different top 4 from Heat 2 as rtkay123 and San managed to fight their way through, while Smokevengeance and Sho Kahn returned to place among the top tier.

Final four breakdown

San was the first of the four to exit the tournament as his Deadshot and Black Adam seemingly couldn’t stand toe to toe against rtkay123’s Supergirl.

Smokevengeance was awaiting his challenger in the Losers Bracket Final and rtkay123 seemed ready to take him to the task. The first matchup saw rtkay123 change over to Aquaman, where he received a generous whooping from Smokevengeance’s Black Adam. After his stern hiding, rtkay123 decided to whip out his Supergirl.

It proved to be the correct decision as the fight turned from a one-sided drumming to an overall even match up. rtkay123 pulled through in a couple of nail-biter matches to take two wins in a row and progress to face the number one seeded player Sho Kahn.

Both players entered the match with their Supergirls ready for combat. rtkay123 needed to win two best of threes to win the tournament, whereas Sho Kahn needed to only win one best of three due to him not dropping a match throughout the tournament.

rtkay123 and Sho Kahn were inseparable after the first two rounds (tied at 1-1). In the third round, rtkay123 managed to pull off a nailbiter of a win to clinch the first match.

The second match saw Sho Kahn change strategy and move over to Deadshot. rtkay123 couldn’t seem to get a foothold in the match and lost the first round convincingly. rtkay123 changed over to Doctor Fate, but it proved wasteful as Sho Kahn dominated to win the match 2-0.

Final Placements for Heat 3

1st – Sho Kahn

2nd – rtkay123

3rd – Smokevengeance

4th – San

We will be uploading the matches for your viewing pleasure in the week ahead.
